Opening Day Parade is Sunday, April 26th at noon. Parade starts at the fire station on Rt 6A and ends at the AL2 field by the concession stand. Parade will be followed by the Opening Day Ceremony on the field, and a hot dog picnic around the gazebo while games get under way.
Practices/Games for Rookie and A ball begin the weekend after the parade. There will be 7 combined practice/games scheduled for Saturday.
Practices for AA and AAA baseball will start in April (exact date will depend on condition of the fields) and games will start the week after the parade. Schedule is still in progress, but expect games each Saturday. AA will have an occasional weeknight game, and AAA will have at least one weeknight game per week, most frequently on Mondays..
All players through Little League age 8 (born in 2007) are assigned to a team and the coaches will contact you within a couple of weeks.
Equipment: Players are provided with game jerseys and hats. Players are responsible for baseball pants, cleats and gloves (not that clears are necessary at the youngest age levels). Batting helmets and bats are provided by the league but you are welcome to bring your own. We do require that the helmets include face masks.
Calendar Raffle: This fundraiser is the biggest opportunity to offset the cost of running the league and keep our fees low. People that purchase a $10.00 calendar raffle tickets are entered into a drawing with a cash prize winner everyday in the month of May. Several days have prizes donated by sponsors.
All players are expected to sell at least one book of 5 tickets for $10 per ticket. Ticket stubs and $50 should be returned to the coach the week prior to the parade. All players that sell their 5 tickets are entered into a drawing for some great prizes at the Opening Day Ceremony. The more books you sell, the more opportunities to win prizes.
Field Day is scheduled for March 28 starting at 8 a.m., though it may be delayed because of the snow still on the fields. Stay tuned for an email update. This is when Sandwich Little League coaches, players and families prepare the facilities for the season. There's trash cleanup, hanging of sponsor signs, batting cage set-up, repairs, and more to be done at the Wing School fields. The more people we have, the less time we have to spend out there as a group. Even if you can only come for a couple of hours, it helps.
